THE first business has opened on a multi-million pound development in Taunton that was completed more than a year ago.

70Six Tattoo welcomed its first customers to its new premises on Coal Orchard yesterday (Tuesday, January 16).

It held a couple of 'soft opening' days last week in the shop, which faces onto St James Street.

The business has relocated from Bridge Street, where it was established more than six years ago by owner Levi Phillips.

He decided on the move as the previous shop also housed a barber's, which he has now closed.

"For the last couple of years, we've wanted to have just a tattoo studio, and that's been our core reason behind moving," said Mr Phillips.

"Bridge Street was too big for just the tattoo studio and it wasn't so practical to communicate with each other. The new shop is a much nicer space."

70Six Tattoo, which employs three artists, with fourth due to start next month, is expecting to have a new neighbour in February.

Pete Howe and Erin O'Keefe have been busy fitting out Nourish, a hot yoga and boutique fitness studio next door.

Mr Phillips said: "I'd like to think the Coal Orchard development will be successful.

"And it's exciting to think we'll have two businesses next to each other which are effectively about how you look,.

"There's plenty of potential and I've been pleasantly surprised at how busy St James Street is."

70Six Tattoo opens Tuesday to Saturday.
