Neighbours are being given the chance to nominate a group that could share a slice of £1m.

Back again for its sixth year, Benefact Group's Movement for Good Awards, is asking Somerset neighbours to nominate their favourite charities for a chance to win a share of £1m.

The scheme has already generated more than £5m in donations to charities around the UK and Ireland since its launch in 2019.

The awards offer a golden opportunity for charities, as the more nominations they attract, the higher their chances of bagging an award.

Special draws throughout the year will also allocate £5,000 grants to charities operating in specific areas.

Somerset has had its fair share of beneficiaries from this initiative.

These include The Hub at Bridgwater, a networking resource centre, Somerset Bowel Cancer Support Group working tirelessly with bowel cancer patients, and BIBIC, an organisation supporting children with various disabilities.

Mark Hews, chief executive of Benefact Group, said: "Benefact Group is a family of award-winning specialist financial services companies and the third largest corporate donor to charity in the UK.

"Owned by a charity ourselves, charitable giving is at the heart of what we do.

"All of our available profits go to good causes and the more the Group grows, the more the Group can give."
