PLACES are still available for this year's relaunched fundraising Swimathon in Taunton.

The event in the pool at Taunton School on Saturday and Sunday, February 10 and 11 involves teams of up to six swimmers taking part in relay fashion for 53 minutes.

It costs £10 per team to enter and every swimmer receives a medal.

Christine Briggs, of the Taunton Swimathon committee said: "Remember, you really don't have to be a great swimmer. You just need to be able to swim 50 metres - two lengths of the pool - as teams of up to six swimmers swim in relay fashion for 53 minutes.

"We don't mind what stroke you swim, be it crawl, breaststroke or doggy paddle.

"It's all about having fun while raising money for local Somerset charities, which this year are Young Somerset, the Somerset Counselling Centre and Ups and Downs South West.

"Please come to Taunton School pool during the weekend of February 10 and 11 and join in the fun and get rid of the last of the Christmas excess."
