HOMELESS people in Taunton are set for some festive cheer more than a month after Christmas.

Proceeds from an initiative that encouraged people to check out local shops in the town are being shared by homeless charities Arc and Open Door.

Throughout December GoCreate ran the Christmas Tree Art Trail, an outdoor trail to get people out to visit independent shops.

A total of 65 trees were hand painted by local artists, community groups and charities and young people who attend the arts provision from GoCreate Taunton CIC at The Arts Hub, in Flook House, off Station Road.

The trees are currently on display at Creative Innovation Centre (CICCIC) in Paul Street until Saturday (January 27), where you can put a in bid for your favourite tree in the auction.

The auction will take place on Taunton Trails Facebook page from Friday (January 26) at 8pm until 8pm next Monday, (January 29). Simply find the Tree Trail album and post the amount you would like to bid on the photograph of your preferred tree.

The participating businesses paid a small fee to be included in the trail and all monies raised from the businesses and the auction will be split between local homeless charities Arc and Open Door.
