A YOUNG couple who recently bought a touring park and a motorhome security company on the edge of Taunton are already looking to expand and create more jobs.

Darrel and Jessie Evans, 24 and 22, have been running Cornish Farm for a year, and have now added vanbitz to their portfolio.

Cornish Farm is a stop off park for motorhomes and caravans, conveniently situated on a fur-acre site close to the M5 in Shoreditch.

It is open throughout the year and boasts 25 hardstanding pitches in the winter and 50 pitches in the summer.

The award-winning site features a toilet block, floor heating, high cleanliness standards, security cameras and campsite wardens watching out for residents.

The couple, who are expecting their first baby next month, decided to buy Cornish Farm after the pandemic.

Darrel said: "Jessie's family specialise in residential park homes across the South West and we thought it would be a good idea to invest in a transit site here in Somerset, which is a beautiful county.

"It's been successful as a lot of people bought motorhomes because of Covid.

"We've got a couple of long term pitches here, with people who come and go.

"But the rest come for short periods - a lot of sites have a minimum of three nights, but here you can come and leave after one night."

The site is busy throughout the year - and even benefitted from Storm Isha earlier this week.

"We were full because a lot of people got out of Cornwall to escape because the weather was so bad down there," added Darrel, who is exhibiting at the NEC Motorhome and Caravan Show this year.

He and Jessie have branched out and now operate vanbitz, offering motorhome accessories and security,

They also offer air conditioning units, tracking and alarm systems, as well as a solar panel business.

They have bought a 3.5-acre plot of land from the neighbouring farm, with future plans to expand and create further employment on top of the 11 jobs that already exist.
