ENGLAND World Cup hero Sir Geoff Hurst has been given the all clear to return to Frome for his Farewell Tour on Friday, March 8.

Hurst was forced to reschedule his performance due to a health scare during his appearance at the Cheese and Grain last Thursday (January 25).

He has since praised venue staff and event organisers with an official statement issued to ticketholders.

He said: "I would like to personally thank the organisers and all the staff at the Cheese and Grain in Frome for all of their help they gave me on Thursday night.

"The situation was very unfortunate and I’d also like to thank the audience who were fantastic and very understanding of my situation regarding the nosebleed.

"We eventually got home at 4am after great help from one of the organisers of the show to take me home.

"My UK tour will resume and we are coming back to the Cheese and Grain on March 8.

"Hopefully we will see all of the audience back this time.

"We will have a good night in the normal way and I’m looking forward to it once again.

"Special thanks to everyone at the Cheese and Grain on Thursday."

Co-organiser Leander Morales said: "I’m proud to have worked alongside an exceptional team of people who pulled together to look after our special guest.

"He really is a national treasure and he couldn’t have been in safer hands.

"The staff at the Cheese and Grain were amazing.

"I’d also like to extend my praise to the team at Bath RUH for looking after Sir Geoff Hurst during his short stay.”

Co-organiser Graeme Barry said: “Whilst Sir Geoff was keen to continue, it was clear that the most important thing was to ensure Sir Geoff’s health and well-being.

"He really didn’t want to let down his fans, but we also needed to make sure that Geoff was given the best possible level of care we could offer.

"We knew that we could reschedule the event if needed, and that’s what we decided to do.

"The most important thing was to make sure he was looked after.”

Tickets for the rescheduled event cost £29.50 plus standard booking fees. A small number of VIP meet and greet tickets are now available.
