UNCERTAINTY surrounds the future of The Body Shop stores in Taunton's High Street and at Clarks Village, in Street, after it emerged the company is set to appoint administrators this week.

While it is unlikely to spell the end for the business, it is predicted there will be some store closures and job losses.

It comes weeks after The Body Shop, which experienced a weaker than expected festive period, was bought by private equity firm Aurelius.

A major revamp of the company is likely as it became apparent it does not have sufficient working capital.

The firm, which has more then 200 shops across the UK, is set to appoint FRP Advisory as its administrator.

Experts say the Body Shop needs to cut costs on property and rent and bump up its online offer.
