POLICE have closed the A358 near Taunton because of a collision.
The road is closed at Hatch Beauchamp and Travel Somerset – the council's roads information service – says it is expecting it to be shut for “some time”.
Avon and Somerset Police are leading the response to the incident.
In an urgent alert, a Travel Somerset spokesperson said: “The A358 is closed both ways this afternoon at Hatch Beauchamp due to a collision.
“Avon and Somerset Police are on the scene - we expect this to be in place for some time so please plan ahead.”

Tone FM, the county town's radio station, has reported a collision near Thornfalcon and the Ilminster Services roundabout.
Buses of Somerset says the number 30 bus (Taunton to Axminster via Chard) is facing delays of around 30 minutes because of the road closure.
The service is being diverted via Blackbrook Bus Gate and Station Road in Ilminster.
