A FAMILY and their dog have been rescued from the window of a house in Taunton after a fire.
Crews received reports of a fire in the downstairs of a house on Dorchester Road early this morning (Monday, February 19), at around 1.12am.
The cause of the fire is “currently under investigation,” Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said.
A spokesperson for the service said: “Control received a 999 call, reporting a fire in the downstairs of a property in Dorchester Road, Taunton.
“Two fire engines were sent from Taunton. On arrival, crews confirmed that there was smoke and flames issuing and people still within the property.
“A further fire engine from Bridgwater was then sent to assist.
“Crews rescued one adult female, two children, and one dog from the property via a first-floor window.
“There was 60 per cent fire and smoke damage to the kitchen and smoke damage throughout.
“The ambulance was called to check over the residents. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.”
