ST Margaret's Hospice Care has launched a new initiative to mark the leap year in 2024.

The Pay for an Extra Day Leap Year Appeal aims to raise vital funds so the charity can continue to provide care to those in need in Somerset.

It costs St Margaret's £5,087 per day in operational funds for community team.

Last year, the team made 26,685 visits to patients and loved ones in their own homes, delivering care and support 100 per cent free of charge.

The services, provided by the diligent unit of trained nurses, are available every day.

St Margaret's Hospice Care has encouraged supporters to make the extra day count in the leap year.

A spokesperson said: "Support us so we can ensure our Community Team can continue to reach local people facing the challenge of a life-limiting illness in Somerset.

"Every £70 raised could pay for a visit from a community nurse to help care for someone in the comfort of their own home so do something amazing today and support your local hospice!"
