TWO police officers have seized a knuckleduster containing a flick knife seen on a kitchen sideboard in a home in Frome.
The Mendip Neighbourhood Policing group said the two officers saw the knife while attending the address and speaking with the occupants.
A police spokesperson said: “PC John and PC Kayleigh were attending a private address in Frome and during the course of speaking with the occupants a knuckleduster containing a flick knife was seen on a kitchen sideboard.
“The knife was seized as it is an offensive weapon, even being in a private home which is covered under the legislation amended section 141 of the Criminal Justice Act 1988 to make it a criminal offence to possess in private any weapon set out in the Criminal Justice Act 1988 (Offensive Weapons) Order.
“If you have any of the following items in your home, as a display or something that you may have had before the legislation changed then you must either contact 101 or send a private message to this Facebook group and an officer will make contact to safely collect and dispose of the item without any further action taken.
“Frome Police Station also has a knife amnesty bin however please make contact with any of the Neighbourhood Team before attending the station.”
