MOTORISTS and residents across Somerset are being urged to take care as roads flooded this morning (Monday, February 26) after the recent downpours.
Travel Somerset said Lipe Lane/Cheat Road in Ruishton is flooded and the B3188 is closed due to a fallen tree.
A weather warning for rain was in place yesterday (Sunday, February 25) from 6am to 6pm while the Environment Agency (EA) issued flood warnings for East Somerset and North Somerset.
The flood warning area included: “West Moor, Hay Moor and Curry Moor including New Road between North Curry and the A361, and Cutts Road at East Lyng.”
The heavy rain also caused floods in French Weir Park in Taunton.
The photos, taken this morning, show a flooded field in the park (Longrun Meadow).
A message from the EA published yesterday said: “The situation is being continually monitored and staff are checking the condition of flood banks, spillways, and weed screens.
“Please refer to Travel Somerset for information on local road closures and avoid walking, cycling, or driving through flood water."
