THREE tons of crushed stone have been used to improve the surface of a car park with “multiple potholes” in Taunton.

The town warden team worked together to shovel three tonnes of stone/hardcore to improve the surface of the car park at Hamilton Gault Park and allotments.

A Taunton Town Council spokesperson said: “There were multiple potholes in the surface, which is made of loose stone.

“Consideration was given to whether to resurface the car park, but it was not considered an appropriate use of funds as it would be an extremely high cost, for a relatively low-traffic area.

“Instead, approximately £100 was spent on three tonnes of crushed loose stone, the material advised for this type of application; the town wardens shovelled and tamped it down.

The town council also gave an update on Galmington Playing Fields.

The spokesperson said: “Disabled parking bays have now been reinstated at this car park.

“The approach road is under consideration regarding pothole repairs, but ownership of the road is unclear.

“Once this is clarified, the Town Warden Lead will revisit the site with a view to consider whether the town wardens can carry out these repairs or should engage a contractor.

The spokesperson also said “a contractor will be repairing the potholes on Taunton Green this week, weather permitting”.
