ALTHOUGH it was a little late for a white Christmas, snow covered vast areas of Somerset this weekend, much to the joy of many, and the misery of others.

The Met Office forecast snow in areas of the South West, and then issued a yellow weather warning for snow, which came into effect on Saturday morning from 6am until 10am.

Many areas of the Mendip Hills were affected, as well as parts of North Somerset, and the villages of Holcombe, and Chilcompton.

In fact, for one driver in Chilcompton, the snow proved too much, and resulted in them crashing into and damaging a home on Bakers Lane.

The Met Office has forecast no more snow for the foreseeable future - so although it's beautiful, many will be thankful that no further disruption will be caused.

With the majority of the snow now melting away, sit back and have a flick through our gallery of the best pictures of the snow in Somerset from this weekend.
