A BRAND-NEW lunar installation that showcases the wonders of Wookey Hole in a new light is coming later this month.

The Somerset attraction has announced a fresh addition to their experiences for visitors.

A massive moon is to be hung 70 metres underground against a backdrop of new lighting.

The colossal moon of 5.5 metres, placed in the publicly accessible Chamber 9, will be shining brightly for guests.

The idea is a significant step in a million-pound investment programme designed to enhance visitors' experiences and the infrastructure at Wookey Hole, a site that became available to the public back in 1927.

The expectation is that this exciting new element will spark the creativity of explorers regardless of age, by illuminating the unique features of the place.

The lunar installation comes after the sold-out opening of Chamber 20 in 2015 and aims to boost visitors’ connection to the caves.

Ellen Ramsay, spokesperson for the Cottle Family, who own and operate Wookey Hole, conveyed the excitement for the upcoming launch.

She said: "At Wookey Hole, if you can dream it, it can happen.

"It’s such a unique destination.

"The moon is a powerful symbol of magic and the imagination, witchcraft and human endeavour, so it is a perfect fit for the caves with their rich history and enduring legends.

"It’s a privilege to be able to share this beautiful underground landscape with the public and entertain them in true Wookey Hole fashion along the way."

The unveiling is planned for March 23, marking the beginning of Wookey Hole's Big Easter Event.

In addition to the lunar spectacle, there will be an Easter Egg Hunt and a new 4D film called ‘Chaos in Wonderland,’ featuring amusement park creatures coming to life after dark.

The Wookey Hole Circus will also add to the exhilaration with new live shows.

Further enhancements are in progress as Wookey Hole Adventure Golf, a fan favourite, is due to receive a Spring facelift.

Tickets for this out-of-this-world day out can be bought online, with prices starting at £17.95 for children, £22.45 for adults and £21.45 for seniors, offering an extraordinary experience that promises not just to entertain but also to creatively engage all ages.
