A SOMERSET chef has scooped a tasty £15,000 cash prize courtesy of online competition specialist BOTB.

Josh Budge, from Emborough, between Wells and Shepton Mallet, was at work training new staff when he received a video call from BOTB presenter Will Cozens who surprised him with the news he had won the Daily Draws Competition.

“I thought it was a joke when Will phoned me,” said the 27-year-old, who was in the middle of a 14-hour shift.

“Honestly, it’s a huge weight off my shoulders. I’ve literally just moved into a new house and the money will help me pay off some debt and give myself some more financial freedom. I’m definitely not going to blow it.”

Josh said he was planning to use some of his winnings to go and visit his girlfriend who lives in the Netherlands.

“We’ve been together for about three years and get to see each other about six or seven times a year,” he said.

Josh, who currently works as a relief chef for a restaurant chain and was back in the kitchen the next day for another 14-hour shift, said he would love to open a pastry café in Scotland in the future.

“It’s definitely a dream of mine and Scotland is one of my favourite places,” he added.

Will said: “A huge congratulations to Josh for winning this fantastic cash prize.

“As a chef, hopefully the news of his prize removed any Gordon Ramsay-style stress from his day in the kitchen.

“With some debt to pay off and a visit to see his girlfriend planned, it sounds like he has already got a good idea of what he wants to spend the money on.”

BOTB hands over the keys to a stunning dream car each week as well as a lifestyle prize.

Founded by William Hindmarch in 1999, it has given away £64million-worth of cars so far.
