A NURSERY in Taunton has been given a 'Good' rating after its first Ofsted inspection since the Covid-19 pandemic.

Little Wildings Nursery was visited by inspectors on February 27.

It caters to children between the ages of one to four with a maximum capacity of 26.

In the report, Ofsted inspectors found that: "Children arrive happily and settle quickly.

"They share warm interactions with staff."

The report further adds that the children spend much of their time outdoors, engaging in physical exercises and learning about growth and nature.

It notes that they demonstrate good concentration and focus, as well as always engaging in learning opportunities.

The staff members have tailored a curriculum based on the children's interests and are actively supportive of all learners, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).

The Ofsted report praised the nursery's emphasis on communication and language development: "All staff consistently interact with the children, providing them with good role models.

"This helps them to develop good social skills and behave well."

It is also clear in the report that the relationships with parents are strong, who express appreciation for the staff's communication about their children's progress.

To improve, the report suggested bettering strategies for changeover times so that children don't have to wait for long periods, and encouraging children to manage their self-care to build on their understanding further.

Despite this, the report commended the leadership of the joint managers, stating, "They reflect on their practice and the provision.

"They provide staff with regular opportunities for personal development."

In terms of partnering with other institutions and professionals, the Ofsted report added: "Staff develop good links with other settings and schools.

"They take the children to events at the host school to watch the Nativity or join in with harvest festival or sports day.

"Partnership working with external agencies and other professionals is also good."

In terms of safeguarding, the inspectors found that "there is an open and positive culture around safeguarding that puts children's interests first".

The school, registered in 2021, operates from Monday to Thursday from 8am to 6pm, and from 8am to 4.30pm on Fridays.

The management team comprises three members at degree level, two level 6 qualified staff, two at level 3, and an apprentice, making for a robustly trained and dedicated team.
