A MUSICIAN from Minehead who is set to receive a prestigious award has said that is it an "incredible honour."

Anthony, who went to school in Taunton, has been on tour to raise vital funds for UNICEF, an international charity that helps children in conflict zones around the world.

He will collect the Rotary Young Citizen Award on Saturday, April 20, at Alcester. This is following a nomination by  Alan Reeve of the Taunton Rotary Club, and a reference from his housemaster Philip Edwards at Taunton School.

Launched in 2007 by the then controller of BBC News 24 Kevin Bakhurst and Rotary International in Great Britain & Ireland, the awards were set up to overcome negative stereotypes of young people under the age of 25 and highlight their achievements.

The 18th award ceremony will be hosted by previous winners and televised by BBC News 24 at the Rotary Great Britain & Ireland Conference.

Speaking about how it feels to win the award, Anthony said:  "It is such an incredible honour to receive a Rotary Young Citizen Award.

"I hope my story will inspire other young people to use their talents to make the world a better place."
