A POPULAR pub situated in Taunton's town centre has gone on the market and is looking for new operators.

The Cricketers, on the High Street, which first opened in 2019, is owned by Stonegate Pubs, but the company is searching for new people to take the helm.

The pub benefits from a large area with pool tables and dartboards, as well as booth seating with TVs for sporting fans, low level seating for a cosier feel, and a large number of HD screens.

It also boasts a top of the range sound and lighting system for late-night parties.

The Cricketers makes a forecast turnover of £520,000 per annum, and brings in an estimated earnings of £101,920.

Stonegate Group's Regional Manager said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate, this is a popular pub that benefits from a large pool and darts area.

"The right operator will be able to deliver the best moments from open till close, whether that be through sport, quizzes, or weekend party nights.

"Be able to create an inviting atmosphere, perfect for sport lovers & community events, we want to see this pub thrive and reach its true potential by driving all aspects from the daytime race day pint, to the late-night party vibe."

Following rumours that The Cricketers may be at threat of closing in January 2024, the County Gazette asked Stonegate to comment on the future of the pub.

In response, a spokesperson said: “There is no truth in the reports that The Cricketers in Taunton will be closing. The site is currently open and trading as usual.”
