AN exhibition of artwork, inspired by climate change and created by school pupils, is on display on the Town Bridge while repair works are under way.

Year 6 students from North Town Primary School collaborated with GoCreate Taunton CIC and other local organisations in a project called #WeAreHere.

They met at The Arts Hub, where they produced hand-printed art, guided by GoCreate artists Adam Grose and Jenny Keogh.

The initiative provided a space for the children to discuss climate change, guided by Karuna from Climate Action Taunton.

The goal is fostering conversations about how climate change is influencing Taunton and what kind of community they envision for the future.

The pieces will be displayed on hoardings while the repairs are carried out to the Grade II-listed structure over the River Tone in the town centre.

In January, Somerset Council confirmed pedestrian access will be maintained at all times during the works, which are expected to last for 40 weeks.

Engineering reports had revealed the need for extensive refurbishing works to the bridge, which dates back to 1895.
