A PLAY has raised over £2,000 for a charity that offers support to homeless people in Taunton.

St James Players, (members of St James Church, Taunton) recently presented an Easter Whodunnit Play written by one of their casts to raise funds for Open Door, the Taunton charity that provides daytime practical support for homeless and roofless people in the town.

The play, called Bodysnatchers, was based on events of the first Easter, seen through the eyes of some of the people who witnessed the remarkable mystery of the resurrection of Jesus and raised the question of what did happen to the body.

The performance was held at St James Church on two evenings which were full to capacity. “Fun but thought-provoking”

The performance raised just over £2,000 and this will all go to the Open Door Raising the Roof appeal.

Open Door is based in a building on Mary Street which is in need of substantial repair, in order to be able to continue their life changing operations there.

Open Door offers a range of supportive services to the town’s homeless, meals, clothing, washing and laundry facilities and opportunities to be supported in getting lives back on track.

The sum they need to raise is £50,000.
