A Taunton church presented an Easter play which raised over £2,000 for a local homeless charity.

St James Players, from St James Church, held performances of Bodysnatchers, an Easter whodunnit play written by a member of the cast.

The script was inspired by the mystery surrounding the resurrection of Jesus during the first Easter.

St James Players hosted two sold-out shows and raised over £2,000.

All proceeds will go towards Open Door's Raising the Roof appeal, a Taunton charity that provides daytime support to the homeless community.

Open Door operates out of a building in Mary Street that requires significant repair.

However, with the appeal's total reaching a staggering £50,000, this is only the beginning.

Despite this, the play was well-received, being described as both "fun" and "thought-provoking".

Open Door offers a wide array of support services such as meals, clothing, washing and laundry facilities.

Additionally, it creates opportunities to help homeless individuals regain control of their lives.
