A MUSICIAN from Minehead has received the prestigious Rotary Young Citizen Award.

Anthony Knight, who went to school in Taunton, has been on tour to raise vital funds for UNICEF, an international charity that helps children in conflict zones around the world.

He collected the Rotary Young Citizen Award on Saturday, April 20, at Alcester. This was following a nomination by  Alan Reeve of the Taunton Rotary Club, and a reference from his housemaster Philip Edwards at Taunton School.

Launched in 2007 by the then controller of BBC News 24 Kevin Bakhurst and Rotary International in Great Britain & Ireland, the awards were set up to overcome negative stereotypes of young people under the age of 25 and highlight their achievements.

The 18th award ceremony was hosted by previous winners and televised by BBC News 24 at the Rotary Great Britain & Ireland Conference.
