Lendology CIC, a Taunton-based social enterprise, has been nationally recognised for its efforts in tackling loan sharks.

The organisation was awarded the coveted Partner Recognition accreditation from the England Illegal Money Lending Team (IMLT).

The company operates throughout the UK, bridging the gap between local councils and homeowners by providing loans for enhancing home safety, security, and energy efficiency.

Over the past two decades, it's successfully lent over £23 million in local council capital to positively impact privately-owned homes.

Their loan provisions cater to a range of solutions, including retrofit and energy-efficiency measures, general home repairs, landlord and empty property owner support, as well as disability adaptation loans.

These efforts have led to safer, warmer, and more sustainable homes across the country.

CEO of Lendology, Emma Lower, said: "Celebrating this recognition is a testament to our unwavering commitment to safeguarding all individuals from the scourge of loan sharks.

"At Lendology, we stand firm in our dedication to providing vital financial solutions and empowering homeowners.

"This partnership underscores the importance of our mission and the tireless efforts of our team.

"As we continue to champion financial inclusion and combat illegal money lending, we remain steadfast in our resolve to serve as a beacon of support for homeowners across the UK."

Lendology has also been actively involved in combatting the detrimental societal issues associated with illegal money lending.

They've partnered with the IMLT to educate and enlighten communities about the grave dangers tied to loan sharks.

Tony Quigley, Head of the IMLT, expressed his gratitude for Lendology's commendable efforts.

He said: "We would like to congratulate Lendology on their partner recognition award and thank them for their outstanding efforts tackling loan sharks.

"Loan sharks are criminals that prey on the most vulnerable people in our communities. They trap their victims into spiralling debt and will often use intimidation and violence.

"We will not tolerate illegal money lending and would urge anyone with information about this crime to report it as soon as possible."
