A LARGE new care home could be built in Taunton under new plans submitted to Somerset Council.
LNT Care Developments has applied to build a 66-bedroom care home on land located just off of Cutliffe Road.
Parking, access, landscaping and associated ground works are also among the plans for the site.
If plans are approved, the new care home would be situated in the recently built Killiams Park residential development, developed by Summerfield Homes.
Initially, a primary school was proposed for the site.
"[The school] has now not been brought to fruition giving LNT an opportunity to provide a much-needed development," the applicant wrote.
It is proposed that the planned 3,178 sqm two-storey care home would feature single room accommodation with en-suite wetroom facilities, high quality facilities including cafes/dining rooms, quiet lounges/family rooms, a library, garden room, a cinema, and a hairdressers.
'State-of-the-art' back of house and catering facilities, including staff showers and changing rooms would also be implemented, along with 25 parking spaces - including three accessible bays and six EV charging points - eight cycle spaces, and an ambulance/taxi drop off area.
An access road from Cutliffe Road will be created if plans are approved.
