THE MET Office has issued another weather warning for thunderstorms for Somerset and the South West.

Part of Somerset could be hit by scattered showers and thunderstorms today (Wednesday, May 22) and a yellow warning will be in place from 8am to 7pm

The Met Office reported: “Sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.

“Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services.

“There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost.”

Here is the latest forecast: “While many places will remain dry, scattered showers are expected through Wednesday.

“Where these develop, they are likely to be heavy at times, with a risk of hail and thunder.

“A few places may see 10-20mm in one hour and perhaps 30-40mm in two to three hours.”

This comes after a previous weather warning that was in place on Monday (Tuesday, May 20).
