POLICE have dealt with a group of young people following reports of them causing "harassment, alarm and distress" to members of the public in Yeovil last night (Tuesday, May 21).

A South Somerset Neighbourhood Policing spokesperson said: "A Section 34 Dispersal is currently in place for Yeovil Town Centre.

"This is following numerous reports last night, of a group of young people behaving in an anti social manner, causing harassment, alarm and distress to members of the public.

"Yeovil Neighbourhood Officers located the youths, and they were returned to their parents.

"The young people all received a Section 35 dispersal notice, meaning they were prohibited from entering the Town Centre for a specified period of time, between 24 and 48 hours.

"Various businesses that were impacted were spoken to and updated at the time, and we would like to thank them for their reports which ultimately allowed us to reach this outcome."
