THIRTY preserved vintage buses dating from 1934 to 2006 will run free services from the former Taunton Bus Station to Wellington.

The bus services will also stop at Sheppy's Cider Farm and Rumwell Farm Shop, Bishop's Lydeard (for the West Somerset Railway), Stoke St. Mary, Corfe, and Wiveliscombe, together with a frequent Town Service and a Mystery Tour to the Blackdown Hills.

The event is being organised by the Thames Valley & Great Western Omnibus Trust (TV&GWOT) and buses will start running from 10am with the last returning at 5.45 pm.

Somerset County Gazette:

Programmes giving details of the buses entered for the event, the routes, and full timetables are available now, from the County Classics Motor Museum at 52-53 North Street, Taunton, for £7 or online for delivery by post through the TV&GWOT website for £8 at www.tvagwot.org.uk/product-page/taunton-bus-day-programme .

The programme also describes a schoolboy's memories illustrated by the author’s photographs of Taunton buses in the 1960s, together with the history of Taunton Bus Station, which is recognised by the National Transport Trust as an important 'Transport Heritage Site'.

It will also include the history in pictures of a 65-year-old Taunton double-deck bus which survived as a training bus and which is now undergoing an extensive restoration back to original condition.
