A 25-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place in Taunton town centre.
Avon and Somerset Police said officers attended reports of a man carrying a knife on Station Road at around 4.35pm yesterday (Friday, May 24).
Police seized a knife and arrested a man who remains in custody while enquiries continue.
There are no reports of injuries.
The police spokesperson said: “We were called shortly after 4.35pm yesterday afternoon (May 24) to a report of a man carrying a knife in Station Road, Taunton.
“Officers attended within minutes, seized a knife, and arrested a man following a search of a property.
“A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and he remains in police custody while enquiries continue.
“No injuries were reported.”
