The UK’s largest commercial horse racing organisation, The Jockey Club, has partnered with EVC to install charge points at Wincanton Racecourse.

The move aligns with The Jockey Club’s plan to become carbon neutral by 2027.

Over 100 chargers will be set up across 14 UK venues, and Wincanton Racecourse will see four EV chargers installed.

EVC will carry out the installation at no cost to The Jockey Club.

Kirstin McEvoy, sustainability manager of The Jockey Club, said: "Horseracing is a sport with so much heritage, and our partnership with EVC underscores our commitment to seeking out innovations that will enable us to future-proof our racecourses and deliver on our net zero ambitions."

CEO at EVC, Nick Bellamy, said: "At EVC our mission has always been to develop one of the largest destination charging networks in the UK.

"By enabling fast and convenient EV charging at each of its iconic venues, The Jockey Club strengthens its guest experience, bolsters its sustainability objectives, and appeals to a new generation of environmentally conscious racegoers and corporate hospitality clients."

The Jockey Club will offer different charging tariffs at each venue, with discounts available through the EVC Plus app which also provides a range of services including tracking charging sessions.
