A TRIAL date has been set for a man accused of murdering a Northwich woman in Frome.
Keiron Goodwin spent the weekend in custody after being charged with the murder of Olivia Wood.
Avon and Somerset Police were called shortly after 3am on Tuesday (July 30) by the ambulance service who were treating a woman at a residential address in Portway, Frome.
The 29-year-old was taken to hospital in a serious condition where she later died, despite the best efforts of medics.
She was formally identified as Ms Wood and her next of kin were informed.
Police then charged 32-year-old Goodwin with her murder and he appeared at Bristol Magistrates Court on Friday (August 2).
Goodwin was remanded in custody and was due to appear at Bristol Crown Court this morning (August 5) for a bail application hearing.
However, this was adjourned.
He is next due to appear at the court on October 7 for a plea and trial preparation hearing.
The full five-day trial is then scheduled to begin on January 6, 2025.
Speaking last week, Avon and Somerset neighbourhood inspector Rose Green said: “Our thoughts at this devastating time are with Olivia’s family who are being supported by a specially trained family liaison officer who will continue to keep them updated of enquiries into her tragic death.
“We’d like to reassure the local community, we do not believe there to be any wider risk to the public.”
