DOGS and cats don’t ask for much – they just want to have love, play time, a safe environment, water and food.
However, times are trying and buying food for your pet may be a problem. Hard times can happen to anyone and pets may suffer as a result.
Rescue centres throughout the UK have seen a huge increase in people giving up their pets because they cannot afford to keep them.
St Giles Animal Welfare Centre has set up its own pet food bank – their aim is to keep as many pets in their homes as they can.
If you are finding times hard, their team of volunteers is there to help you.
There is a list of terms and conditions on the website; follow the link and answer the questions so they can assist you.
Please note, if you meet the criteria, evidence of low income and/or benefits must be provided on collection of any food. For further information see stgilesanimalwelfare.co.uk.
Please help if you can, to keep pets with their families, by donating to the food bank, making sure your donations are labelled clearly ‘For Pet Food Bank’.
Dog of the week: Zeus
Zeus is an American Bulldog, 14 months old, looking for his forever home.
He arrived at St Giles six months ago and although loving the staff there, he would adore a home he can call his own.
He is a sloppy faced boy with a lot of love to give. He is quite boisterous and can be stubborn. He needs a family with large breed experience who are able to devote time to train him to settle and relax.
Although Zeus has made progress with meeting other dogs whilst at St Giles he can still be over-enthusiastic.
He would need to be the only dog in the home, could not live with cats or small furries and would prefer a child free home.
He has done well being left on his own for short periods in his foster home, but this aspect will require continued training.
Could you offer dear Zeus his forever home? If so please contact stgilesanimalwelfare.co.uk
