A DENTAL practice in Taunton has revealed it won’t be re-opening after a “devastating fire” forced it to move last year.
Bridge Street Dental Practice operated at 47 Bridge Street, Taunton - with some staff working there for more than 20 years.
The fire started in a neighbouring restaurant, Bare Grills, and was considered “accidental” after an investigation.
In February 2023, the blaze in Bridge Street broke out at around 5.30am and 10 fire engines and two aerial platforms were sent to the scene.
Residents in the flats above the Bare Grills premises were safely evacuated at the height of the blaze and there were no reported injuries.
The fire spread to Bridge Street Dental Practice forcing the business to close and eventually move to Wellington.
Chief operating officer Owen James said: “Thank you for your patience since the building was sadly closed due to damage by the fire in the neighbouring premises, in February 2023.
“Our first duty has been to patients and colleagues, and we are pleased to have been able to treat some patients out of Wellington Dental Practice in the interim.
“It is with sadness that we must inform you that Bridge Street Dental Practice will not reopen after the fire.
“This has not been an easy decision to make, and we fully understand and apologise for any inconvenience or distress this news may cause you.
“We have had the privilege of looking after countless members of the community for 29 years and we are grateful for having had the opportunity to be your dental care provider.
“Ongoing treatment plans will be prioritised for completion and our emergency service for patients in pain will continue out of the Wellington Dental Practice until November 29, 2024.
“Once again, our heartfelt apologies for any disruption that this may cause you and we thank you for your patience with our practice in recent times.”
The dental surgery offered a “wide range of treatments in a welcoming, caring and comfortable environment”.
On their website, the dentist said: “From routine general dentistry to more advanced cosmetic procedures you can be confident that you will receive the highest standard of care at all times.”
