WITH so many high-profile schools in Somerset, it's no surprise that people come from far and wide to study in the county, but did you know that some celebrities have studied in the area?
Here we have featured a list of celebrities you may not have known who spent some or all of their school life in Somerset.

Dom Littlewood:
Part of one of the most iconic duos in the UK, Dominic Littlewood is known for his witty banter - but did you know he went to school in Somerset?
Dick and Dom, also known as Wood and McCourt, met while presenting vision links for CBBC at BBC Television Centre in West London. Their boss noticed them chatting and put them together as a duo.
Dom spent a large number of his school years as a student at King's College in Taunton.
Lily Allen:
Lily Rose Beatrice Allen, 39, is an English singer, songwriter, actress, and author born in Hammersmith, London.
Lily is the daughter of actor Keith Allen, and her mother Alison Owen was a film producer, so it was always likely that she would have a career in show business.
The pop star went to school in Street after attending Millfield, by her own admission, on a "massive swimming scholarship" having trained in the sport before she became known for her music.
John Cleese:
John Cleese became a comedy icon in the 1970s for his work on Monty Python's Flying Circus and Fawlty Towers.
Jill Dando:
A journalist and TV presenter with the BBC for many years, Jill Dando went to school in Somerset.
Jill, was born in Weston, Somerset, and attended Worle Community School before gaining a degree in journalism at Cardiff Metropolitan University.
After graduating, Jill began working at her local paper, the Weston Mercury, alongside her brother Nigel and father Jack.
Jill Dando was tragically murdered in 1999.
Sir Michael Eavis:
Michael Eavis, founder of Glastonbury Festival, was awarded a knighthood for services to music and charity in the New Year's Honours list in 2024.
Eavis was schooled at Wells Cathedral School in Somerset along with his daughter, Emily Eavis, who helps run the Glastonbury Festival proceedings.
Edgar Wright:
Edgar Wright, 50, brought Wells to national attention in 2007 by filming Hot Fuzz in the Somerset location.
Best known for directing Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead, The World's End, and Scott Pilgrim vs The World - Edgar Wright was schooled at Wells Blue School.
Mark Getty:
Mark Getty is the founder and chairman of Getty Images and also one of the most well-known alumni of a school in Taunton.
Born in Rome, Italy, Mark attended Taunton School in Somerset and later studied philosophy and politics at St Catherine's College, Oxford.
Jos Buttler:
Known for captaining England in Cricket and having a successful club career, Jos Buttler, who helped England win the Cricket World Cup, was born and raised in Somerset and went to King's College in Taunton.
Jos played for Somerset Cricket Club from 2009-2013 and currently plays for Paarl Royals in South Africa.
Juno Temple:
Actress Juno Temple, who recently featured in the hit Apple TV+ Show Ted Lasso from 2020, went to school in Taunton, Somerset.
Miss Temple has also starred in several high-profile films, including Atonement, alongside Keira Knightley, Notes on a Scandal alongside Cate Blanchett and Dame Judi Dench, and The Other Boleyn Girl, which stars Scarlett Johansson and Natalie Portman.
Juno, 35, grew up in Taunton, Somerset, where she attended Enmore Primary School and Bedales School. She returned to Taunton to finish at King's College.
Tony Blackburn:
Tony Blackburn was the first disc jockey to broadcast on BBC Radio 1 at its launch, on September 30 1967, and has had several stints working for the corporation.
The veteran BBC disk jockey was born in Surrey but spent some time at Millfield School, in Street.
In 2002, Blackburn was the first king of the jungle (winner) of the British reality TV series I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!
Jenson Button:
A Formula One champion in 2009, Jenson Button is one of Frome's highest-profile alumni.
Button was educated at Vallis First School, Selwood Middle School and Frome Community College. His karting career limited his studying and he left school with one GCSE.
