TAUNTON'S most popular pub has been given a new hygiene rating for 2024.

The Perkin Warbeck, on East Street, is widely known as the place most people end up on a night out in Taunton.

Now the only town's Wetherspoon pub since Coal Orchard closed as a Wetherspoon pub, the Perkin has been awarded a new five star hygiene rating by the Food Standards Agency.

The Wetherspoon pub was graded by a food safety officer on three main categories including hygienic food handling, cleanliness and condition of facilities and building, and the management of food safety.

The results of each category are as follows:

Hygienic food handling - Very good

Cleanliness and condition of facilities and building - Good

Management of food safety - Very good

The five out of five rating may come as no surprise to many as the Taunton Wetherspoon pub was also given a five out of five rating back in August 2022.

The Perkin Warbeck is managed by Mark Bouchier, earlier this year he spoke after the pub won an award for the cleanliness of its toilets.

"We are delighted with our overall hygiene grading," said Mark. "Staff at the pub ensure the toilets are in excellent condition at all times and it is great that this has been recognised by the inspectors."

You can find the Perkin Warbeck at 22-23 East Street, Taunton, Somerset, TA1 3LP.
