THE new manager of The Plough on Taunton's Station Road is reopening the pub for a "soft launch" months after its sudden closure.
Its new leaseholder and manager, Ricardo Freitas, has taken on the pub and hopes to "bring back the old spirit of The Plough" with a more upmarket range of drinks and new faces behind the bar.
The pub will open for drinks on Friday, December 6, and Saturday, December 7.
Manager Ricardo, 51, said: "We don't want to change too much, just a facelift, a bit of a clean, and a few changes outside, but we want to keep it as The Plough.
"We want the spirit of the old Plough, where people can come and enjoy drinks before going clubbing or to relax after work."

He added: "It will remain a traditional British pub, there's no intention to change that. At the moment we can't provide food, but in a couple of weeks we will start serving snacks. In the new year, we plan to launch a new menu, a traditional pub menu with Mediterranean fusion."
Ricardo will be a familiar face to many around Taunton, having previously managed Koottaan, Mattancherry, The Castle Hotel, and many more venues.
The experienced manager moved to Taunton ten years ago and has been involved in several successful projects, including The Brazz. The Plough is Ricardo's first solo venture in the town.
For New Year's Eve, The Plough will have a DJ, with more details of the night to be announced soon on social media.
