Roman clothing shop closed in Clarks Village, in Street

Roman, known for Roman Originals clothing, is a women's clothing brand that retails in over 150 outlets, across the United Kingdom.

Formerly occupying Unit 74 at the Outlet shopping village in Street next to the Works, Roman officially closed this week with no imminent replacement.

Roman Originals clothing is considered to be a popular option, particularly among mature women in the UK.

The businesses' core stock ranges include Daywear, Eveningwear, Workwear, Outerwear, and Special Occasion Clothing as well as a comprehensive range of bespoke accessories and hats.

Roman offers "affordable" and "stylish" clothing with a focus on occasion wear and classic designs, making it a choice for special events and everyday attire. 

Established in 1957, the now family-run business was originally a manufacturing business based in Birmingham.

In 1994 Roman Originals brand first hit the High Street in a concession format. During the late 1990's the company began opening its own stores, initially in Outlet centres nationwide.

While speculation remains over the space of the former clothing spot, Clarks Village has gone from strength to strength this year, adding several shops to the outlet mall in the last 12 months, including French Connection, Bill's, Wagamama, and more.

“We’re sorry to see Roman close," said a spokesperson from Clarks Village. "Creating a vibrant and varied retail destination is our priority and in the last 12 months, we’ve welcomed exciting new arrivals such as French Connection, Lindt and Rituals, as well as Bill’s, Slim Chickens and Wagamama.

"We look forward to sharing more details about brands coming to the centre soon."
