A Somerset garden centre has unveiled its newly refurbished houseplant area.
Brimsmore Gardens in Yeovil has undergone an overhaul, with a new polycarbonate greenhouse roof and automated ventilation system installed.
Alan Down, immediate past president of the Horticultural Trades Association, officially opened the area on Saturday, January 25.
The area was cleared throughout January to make way for the new roof and has been restocked with a larger selection of houseplants.
The new roof, which was installed by Newspan, is said to be more durable than glass and allows for better climate control, UV protection, and airflow.
Adam Wallis, site manager at Brimsmore Gardens, said: "This is an exciting development for Brimsmore Gardens as we continue to operate in a more sustainable and eco-conscious way.
"We’re thrilled with this new greenhouse roof, as it means that we can give these plants the best conditions to thrive in, while reducing our impact on the environment.
"The polycarbonate helps shield plants from the sunlight, so leaves don’t get scorched, and helps with insulation, so we don’t need to use energy to heat the room unnecessarily."
Brimsmore Gardens, which is part of The Gardens Group, is open seven days a week.
