A SOMERSET football club has responded after a video was uploaded online of a fight at the club - gaining over 500,000 views.

The fight, which broke out at Minehead AFC's home ground, the Recreation Ground, involved multiple young men and what appears to be one player.

The scuffle involved a group of about 12 people. It was shared online and has been viewed over 580,000 times, forcing an investigation.

The video shows a group of five or six people gathering outside the entrance to the club's changing rooms, as a further group crowds them. Footage then shows punches being thrown between the group before more people rush towards the fight.

The player in the kit managed to make his way back into the building, but the door then closed. One person from the group attempted to open the door and shouted to the people inside.

The group outside the door then walk away as the video ends. The uploaded video was shared after Minehead AFC lost 2-1 against Stockwood Green First in a heated clash - with the teams placed 5th and 6th in the Uhlsport Division 1 respectively.

Minehead AFC has responded to the video going viral stating that the club is 'fully aware and disappointed' by the incident.

In a statement released yesterday (Sunday, February 16), a spokesperson for Minehead AFC said: "We are fully aware and disappointed by the incident that happened at the club yesterday afternoon. This is currently being investigated and the relevant authorities are involved.

"As this is an active investigation, no further comments will be made from us during this time."

It is not clear at this time what caused the fight to break out. Avon and Somerset Police have been approached for comment.
