A LIST of the best cafes in and around Taunton has been compiled from google, TripAdvisor, Facebook and the Food Standards Agency in February 2025.
This ranked list in descending order was compiled using TripAdvisor’s list of the top ten best cafés in and around Taunton, Google’s list of the best cafes in Taunton – based on average Google reviews, and by using Facebook reviews and Food Hygiene Ratings to calculate a score out of 20.

10. The Tea Room at Bath Place
In tenth place is The Tea Room at Bath Place, described as a “warm and cosy tearoom” that offers breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea served with “delicious cakes”.
Location: Bath Place, Taunton.
A spokesperson for The Tea Room said: “All our food is freshly cooked to order and can be adapted to suit your personal taste and dietary requirements. We are dog friendly so welcome your four-legged friends.”
A five-star TripAdvisor review said: “This charming cafe has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with friendly staff that make you feel right at home. The menu is fantastic, and the food is always top-notch. It's my favourite spot to unwind and relax.”

9. The Coffee Station
In ninth place is The Coffee Station, a popular café located within the “beautiful surrounds” of Vivary Park, Taunton.

This café provides a range of vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and soya-free options so that everyone can try their food options.
In reference to all the array of vegan options offered on the menu, a five-star TripAdvisor review described this café as the “best vegan café in Taunton”.
It said: “We come here often, and the fact it’s 100% vegan is such a plus. Always great coffee, great cakes, and great sausage rolls. My belly is rumbling right now thinking of this coffee shop.”

“Taunton’s best kept secret” places in the top five, a café that serves union coffee, a selection of breakfast options, homemade cakes, light lunches and an array of beverages.

A five-star Tripadvisor review made in January 2025 described the café as the “best café in Taunton.”
The review said: “Best café in Taunton. The food is delicious, friendly staff, quick service, good choice of food, convenient location. Indoors and outside choice of seating. Fantastic.”

A five-star TripAdvisor review from February 2025 said: “My first visit to The Shed and it will not be the last that is for sure.
“On a cold winter's day, the ambience was warm and comforting. The facilities were spotlessly clean, and it was lovely to see dogs and everyone welcome to enjoy the experience.”
