Heidelberg Materials have introduced a new blasting notification service at Batts Combe quarry, writes Matt Evans.
The free notification service, which informs residents about the blasts at the quarry site in Cheddar, can be received via email or text message and will include a weekly update to advise residents of planned blast times for the week ahead.
Simon Parkes, unit manager at Batts Combe quarry, said: "The system worked well at some of our other sites, it helps ensure that local people are informed about when we do the blasts which can be two or three times a month.
"Operating within the stringent standards as we do at Batts Combe and the rest of our quarries means that the blasts are safe and there is no risk of structural damage to nearby homes or buildings."
To sign up to the blasting notifications, residents should email battscombequarry@uk.heidelbergmaterials.com and advise which method they would prefer to receive notifications, text or email.
