POLICE have confirmed that an 'Emu' spotted in and around Taunton is now safe after being captured on video running down the A358.
The bird was seen heading down the A358 road between Taunton and Hatch Green (near Thornfalcon) at around 12pm on Saturday (April 5).
A video captured the bird heading up to the sign near the road sign showing the turn-off road for the A378 before heading into a field in the Thornfalcon area.

Several members of the public attempted to catch the bird, and many informed emergency services that it was in danger because it was on a dual-carriageway road with varying speed limits.

One person commented on the situation in disbelief saying: "Only in Somerset! Seriously though, hope it's okay and got home safely."
Another joked about the 'emu' in reference to the 1991 show, Rod 'n' Emu, and said: "This is what happens when Rod Hull dies, they just run rampant".
Anthony Devine, who owns emus in the Taunton area, came out to confirm that the bird wasn't his or in fact an Emu - and that it was back safely with its owner.
He said: "It's not an Emu, it's a Rhea. The police have sorted it and the owner has been found."
A Rhea is distantly related to the African ostriches and Australia's Emu, with the bird just behind the emu in height and overall size.
An Avon and Somerset spokesperson confirmed that the bird was now safely back with its owner, they said: "We did receive a call in relation to this [the 'emu'] on Saturday, April 5.
"The animal was collected by its owner."
