The closure was put in place to allow National Highways to clear the tree so traffic could continue along the road.

There were reports of traffic following the closure, according to AA, with the council confirming the road had reopened at around 9.30am.

There was windy weather and heavy rain in parts of Somerset on Tuesday evening and into Wednesday morning.

On Monday (April 14), the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning covering North Somerset, including Weston-super-Mare.

The “heavy rain” was expected to fall from 12pm on Tuesday (April 15) until 12pm today (April 16).
