A NEW accessible toilet is set to open in Taunton by the end of this week.

Back in May this year, Taunton Town Council revealed they were seeking ideas for the vacant spaces at the Old Bus Station in Taunton.

It has now been revealed that the council is teaming up with Somerset Council to open a new public toilet at Building 2 at the Old Bus Station.

Known as a Changing Places Toilet, the new public toilet will open on Friday, June 13, with members from both respective councils in attendance.

According to Changing Places Toilets, over a 1/4 million people in the UK need Changing Places Toilets to enable them to get out and about and enjoy the day-to-day activities which many of us take for granted.

The new facility is considered 'vital' to meet the needs of people with complex disabilities.

A spokesperson from Taunton Town Council said, "We are delighted to invite you to the official opening of Taunton’s newest Changing Places toilet, a vital facility designed to meet the needs of people with complex disabilities.

"Join representatives from Somerset Council and Taunton Town Council as we celebrate this important step towards greater accessibility and inclusion in our community."
