ALONG with the military vehicles, historic flypast and parades, there will be plenty of entertainment, music and stalls at Somerset Armed Forces Day. Here we look at some of what’s on offer.

Entertainment
Paul Hannam’s Atv Stunts Show will be one of the main attractions in the arena. Paul, who is 34 and from Barnstaple, is a British stunt entertainer who is best known for twelve years quad racing in British and South West Enduro Championships.
The main arena will also play host to Draca Beorðor, a re-enactment group that concentrate on the Viking Age. The group portray the clothing of the Viking Age, the jewellery and utilities used during that period and the equipment used for fighting – all based on detailed historical research and evidence.
For Star Wars fans, the Rebel Legion will once again be at Vivary Park. Based in Elstree, the Rebel Legion will be dressed in costumes inspired by the film franchise, so expect to see Darth Vader and the Stormtroopers.
Keep a look out on the day for Roger Blighty the wannabe pilot with his detailed scale model biplane, Betsy Blue, that’s attached to a penny farthing bicycle.
Betsy Blue boasts a six-foot wingspan, motorised propellers and an onboard sound system that replicates the sounds of a biplane. It has engine and flight noises, it splutters and coughs and a few comedy sound effects thrown in for good measure
For children and those young at heart, Amy’s Air Studio will also be at the event offering face painting.
Music
Taunton Military Wives Choir will once again be performing at the event on Saturday, July 5. The choir was formed in 2013 to provide a supporting activity for the wives of military servicemen.
Classically trained Chrystal Bliss will be reciting some wartime favourites in Vivary Park. Chrystal, who is from North Somerset, is well known in area and has released one album – Perfection – and gone on to record four more.
The Liberty Sisters, Ruby, Rose and Dolly, will also be serenading visitors on the day. Most recently, the trio finished a series of performances for VE Day in towns across the South West.
Russell Jones Junior is another act who will be performing on the day. Russell is a jazz swing artist who used to be a member of the Welsh choir Only Boys Aloud who took part in Britain’s Got Talent in 2012 and were in third place.
Food
A range of food stalls will be available on the day throughout the park, including Cullen’s Catering, Piggie in the Middle, Dough Bros, Traditional Doughnuts, Senait Asmerom (Ethopian cooking), Alfie’s Catering, SB Bakes, Gluten Free Picnic, The Nomadic Barista, and LUXElollies.
