Two friends serving at RNAS Yeovilton are preparing to swap their uniforms for running shoes and cycling gear.
The Blister Sisters, as they are known, are set to participate in Race Across the UK to support the Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity.
The challenge will see them travel from Edinburgh to Dartmouth without the help of map apps, cars, or planes, relying solely on their wits, a map, and what they can carry.
They aim to raise funds to support naval families.
The pair, Jess and Yas, first became friends while serving in the same Royal Navy fire crew.
Their shared passion for physical challenges and charity inspired them to tackle Race Across the UK.
They said: "Just taking part in something so different and knowing the feeling we’ll have at the finish line—having navigated our way across the UK—is something we’re both really looking forward to."
The duo are keen to raise funds and awareness for their cause.
They said: "We’re fundraising for Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity because it truly matters to us, both personally and professionally."
To galvanise support, the team is hosting bake sales across the base and a raffle on Families Day.
They added: "We’re trying to keep it fun and engaging.
"People love a good cake and a good cause, so it’s a win-win."
