A TAUNTON supermarket closed after a car crashed through the window at the front of the store, however, residents have said the store has since reopened.
A silver hatchback crashed through bollards and shopping trolleys right into a Lidl store on Roman Road, Taunton at around 9.30am this morning causing serious damage.
The Lidl store consequently closed its doors and remained closed until a structural engineer confirmed the extent of the damage caused.
A security guard at the scene said it could "take some time" before Lidl reopens as they'll need to fix the damaged window.
Emergency services rushed to the scene including two double-crewed land ambulances, Taunton Fire Crews and two police cars.
Despite the damage caused, police have confirmed that no serious injuries were reported.
A spokesperson for the Avon and Somerset Police said: “We were called at 9.03am today (July 10) to reports a car had collided with a building in Roman Road, Taunton.

“Officers attended to support fire and ambulance services colleagues at the scene. They remain at the scene while the vehicle is recovered.
“No serious injuries were reported.”
A spokesperson for Taunton Fire Crew said: “Blue watch and the on-call section were mobilised to the scene. The on-call section were stood down while the duty watch made the scene safe.”
A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 09.00hrs on Thursday, July 10 to an incident in Taunton.
"We sent one double-crewed land ambulance, and an operations officer to the scene.”
In a statement issued to the BBC, Lidl said: "We can confirm that emergency services were alerted to an incident involving a car at our Taunton store this morning.
"Thankfully, no one in the store was injured."
