BORED with the same old Saturday night routine at the same pubs? Here is a night out planned with the help of artificial intelligence.

AI (Artificial Intelligence) is now used to assist with plenty of everyday tasks, with most smartphones using the software for services like chatbots, digital assistants, social media websites, and more.

Software like ChatGPT has become very popular since it launched in 2022, with companies like X (formerly Twitter) integrating their own AI system called Grok, which anyone can use for free.

According to research completed by Exploding Topics, 77 per cent of companies are either using or exploring the use of AI in their businesses, and 83 per cent of companies claim that AI is a top priority in their business plans.

It's safe to say that artificial intelligence can do a decent job of planning a night out on the town too - but you'll have to be the judge of whether or not you'd try out its proposal.

With that being said, here's the perfect night out in Taunton - according to AI:

Sample Itinerary — 7:00 PM to Late

7:00pm: Start with Culture & Early Evening Entertainment-

AI suggests you kick off your evening at either Tacchi‑Morris Arts Centre or Taunton Brewhouse Theatre & Arts Centre.

Alternatively, AI suggests swinging by the Creative Innovation Centre for a more relaxed experience—live music, community theatre, open‑mic poetry or art shows with a bar and café.

Speaking about the options, AI said: "Both host a variety of performances, including comedy, live music, theatre, dance, and cinema in intimate settings. Check their current listings for what’s on during your visit."

8:30pm: Dinner in Town-

Next, AI suggests enjoying dinner in town at one of these 'top local gems':

  • Augustus Restaurant – intimate fine‑dining with locally sourced ingredients.
  • Castle Bow Restaurant – elegant dining in a restored 17th‑century building with superb service.
  • Cosy Club – stylish and fun, perfect for cocktails and a relaxed meal.

10:00pm: After-Dinner Drinks & Pre-Club Vibes-

Getting to the latter end of the night for most, AI suggests sipping some cocktails or other drinks at a local pub. Two options have been selected in particular.

  • Pitcher & Piano – plush setting, well‑made cocktails and live piano on weekend evenings.
  • Allstars Sports Bar – great if you fancy pool, darts, sports on screen, happy hour drinks or pub games

11:30pm: Dance & Late Night Fun-

If you're looking to dance and party late, AI suggest two options in Taunton town centre:

  • Zinc nightclub – the main club in town with five rooms, themed music zones, laser shows and open until 3–4 AM on weekends. Booths are available for groups.
  • Or, during weekends, you might find Mambo buzzing—especially its outdoor terrace and 3 AM license.

After midnight: Wind Down

If you don't fancy the nightlife drinking scene, AI suggests you can choose to wrap up with:

  • A late-night riverside stroll along the Tone, especially beautiful by moonlight. Consider a river cruise for something totally romantic.

Optional Day Add-On

If your trip includes daytime, AI asks that you consider:

  • A relaxing visit to Hestercombe Gardens (~10 mins drive), with beautiful formal gardens and a café.
  • Before you head out, explore the Museum of Somerset in Taunton Castle, or take the scenic Vivary Park or riverside walks.

Before you head out on your night of adventure, AI recommends some 'final tips' that can help you out.

  • Book theatre tickets in advance, especially for popular shows.
  • For late-night clubs like Zinc or Mambo, check weekend opening hours.
  • More laid-back? Stick to a great meal and cocktails, plus riverside views.
  • Want the local feel? Explore pubs like The Grove or The Plough for great cider and community vibes.

Is AI going to take over the world? Probably not, but at least it can plan a decent night out.
