A medieval-themed event in Somerset has been named a finalist in a regional tourism awards scheme.
The Glastonbury Abbey Medieval Fayre is competing in the Tourism Event/Festival of the Year category at the Bristol, Bath, Somerset and Gloucestershire Tourism Awards 2025.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony in Bath on Thursday, November 20.
Brad Lister, head of commercial activity at Glastonbury Abbey, said: "We are really pleased to be included in the awards alongside such fine events and visitor attractions from across the region.
"The Glastonbury Abbey Medieval Fayre has grown to be our most important annual event, bringing record numbers of people to Glastonbury year on year, culminating in the event completely selling out in 2025."
The medieval fayre, a highlight in the abbey’s events calendar, features jousting, jesters, re-enactment, music and market stalls across the abbey’s 36-acre grounds and ruins.
This year’s event, held on Saturday, April 26 and Sunday, April 27, attracted a record 10,278 visitors.
The fayre previously won gold at the 2023 Bristol, Bath and Somerset Tourism Awards and was also nominated for Event of the Year at the 2023 National Outdoor Events Association Awards.
Established in 2018, the Bristol, Bath, Somerset and Gloucestershire Tourism Awards celebrate excellence across the tourism sector, recognising the passion, hard work and creativity that teams and businesses contribute.
The Glastonbury Abbey Medieval Fayre will return on April 25 and 26, 2026, with tickets on sale now at the Glastonbury Abbey website.
