A NEW bar championing local makers and Somerset craftsmanship is set to open in Taunton and has confirmed an opening date.
The Chapel Tap, from the family behind The Chapel in Cotford St Luke, will officially open its doors at noon on Friday, November 21, in the heart of The Orchard Shopping Centre.
To help celebrate the launch, Paul and Neil from a band called 'Bird Dogs' will be joining the opening party with live music from 5pm until 8pm.

This new rustic yet elegant bar is the latest venture from Steve and Tracey Elliott, who transformed a former church into one of Somerset’s most beloved pubs - The Chapel.
The Chapel Tap opens in a Grade-II listed premises which formerly housed Sheppy's Cider pop-up bar, Jack Wills, and Drayton & Son Jewellers and Watchmakers.
“The Chapel Tap is about more than just what’s in the glass,” said Steve Elliott, co-owner. “It’s about creating a space where people can relax, catch up, and feel part of something local. Every drink we pour has a story behind it — from the fields, farms, and breweries of the South West.”
The new Taunton bar will showcase a line-up of drinks from local and independent producers across the South West. Guests can expect drinks from traders like Utopian Brewing, Sheppy’s Cider, Quantock Brewery, and Coast to Moor Coffee.
Plus, a curated selection of wines, English sparkling, and speciality spirits celebrating local and regional excellence.
Located in The Orchard Shopping Centre, The Chapel Tap is designed as a social hub for both locals and visitors.
In addition to being a bar, The Chapel Tap will also be available for private hire — offering a unique space for daytime meetings, creative collaborations, and small group gatherings.
